Smile with me international is a non-profit organization founded by the parents of Darkito Moskovitz, a child born with bilateral complete cleft lip and palate; our mission is to help children with cleft lip and/or palate all over the world to repair their genetic malformation.
We are a multidisciplinary team of 18 professionals, including plastic surgeons and pediatricians from United Kingdom and Sri Lanka, and implement the “Smile with Me” Protocol and Dr. Brian Sommerlad´s technique to reconstruct lip and palate muscles with two surgeries at 3 and 6 months old; this allow us to achieve exceptional speech, mobility, and cosmetic results.
As part of our protocol, we provide special feeding bottles, hygiene and feeding guidance, support to families, surgeries free of charge, and training to Doctors from Latin America and the world to stop the use of the palate prosthesis and implement the “Smile with Me” protocol, so that children with cleft lip and/or palate can have their malformation repaired at an early age with only 2 surgeries.
The Medical Practice currently used by many doctors in Venezuela closes the palate at three years old, causing the children difficulties to adapt, eat, speak and hear property, besides of having to perform up to nine surgeries to fix their condition. (To learn more about doctors and organizations NOT certified, click here) Our compromise with the people of Venezuela is to look after their children and stop completely the implementation of outdated techniques.
